Marketplace Money: A Day in the Work Life

Sound Learning Feature for October 2005

"So, you get medical with that?" This month we feature the "A Day in the Work Life" series from Marketplace Money, on air every weekend.

Each five-minute interview is a voyeuristic look at how and why people make their living. Whether it's performing surgery or parking cars—your students will find out why people choose their work, why they think it's worth doing their job and a whole lot more. Use the interviews for practicing listening and note-taking skills. Social studies, language arts and economics teachers as well as career counselors will find timely and engaging content to add to their curriculum.

Included in this month's feature are two templates that allow you to quickly create lessons around the series' constantly growing collection of interviews. Both lesson templates correlate with the Minnesota graduation standards.

Use these templates to create lessons with the material in the "A Day in the Work Life" series.
