American RadioWorks: Revisiting Vietnam

Sound Learning Monthly Feature: American RadioWorks' "Revisiting Vietnam"

Between March 8, 1965 and April 30, 1975, nearly three million Americans served in the armed forces in Vietnam. For November, Sound Learning observes Veteran's Day by featuring Revisiting Vietnam, an American RadioWorks documentary.

Revisiting Vietnam allows your students to listen in on a marine as he narrates day-to-day life near the demilitarized zone, browse a virtual scrapbook of Vietnam War experiences, and absorb, through poetry and pictures, one veteran's perspective on life in war and afterward.

Use the experiences highlighted in this month's feature and the lesson templates below to create a brief lesson that observes Veteran's Day or a series of lessons that will help your students prepare for the Minnesota Basic Skills Test of Written Composition. Both templates correlate with the Minnesota graduation standards.

Use these templates to help you create lessons with the material in the Revisiting Vietnam documentary. (Links for audio clips are within the templates.)
